Portable equipment makes for quick changeovers and streamlined sanitation.

With today’s heightened awareness of allergens, equipment portability streamlines sanitation. That’s why many devices have been designed so they can be swapped out quickly without using tools or rolled in and out of production lines for quick changeovers.

Specifically, cutting equipment such as guillotines and ultrasonic devices may need to be changed because of particulates used in a formula or the overall stickiness of the product, noted Don Setsma, vice-president of sales and marketing, Hi-Tech/FPA, Grand Rapids, MI.

FPA also rolled out the Opti-Clean cooling tunnel, designed to the latest sanitary design standards, Mr. Setsma said.
