After hearing complaints from a bakery whose customers often had issues with product having too much flour applied, Axis Automation, Hartland, WI, decided to add a flour duster to its equipment line. Norm Searle, the company’s COO, said its new flour duster, which has been developed over the past five years, gives bakers the ability to accurately distribute flour across the width of a band and control the amount from a light dusting to a very heavy flow.

“Another concern is minimizing the amount of flour dust in the air,” he said, “and that is what this new flour duster is going to provide.”

Burford Corp., Maysville, OK, also has manufactured its flour duster for many years. The machine provides an even dusting of flour to the tops of bread and buns, according to Clay Miller, the company’s sales engineer.
