SCOTTSDALE, ARIZ. — Jodi A. Engleson, director of scientific affairs for the Grains for Health Foundation, is an invited speaker at the annual meeting of the Pacific Northwest Wheat Quality Council.

The meeting will be held Jan. 26-28 at the Embassy Suites hotel in Scottsdale.

Also an invited to speak is Dennis Roe, who will discuss the Conservation Reserve Program. The three-day event will include industry tours and a half day each of university research presentations as well as the sectional presentations of AACCI Pacific Northwest sections.

The Pacific Northwest Wheat Quality Council has been meeting annually since its first gathering in Portland, Ore., in 1995. The group’s mission is "To enhance the quality of wheat produced in the Western States by promoting the development of superior cultivars." The region’s annual production of about 250 million bus equates to 10% to 15% of total U.S. wheat production.

Organized and led by the Western Wheat Quality Laboratory of the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Agricultural Marketing Service, the co-chairmen of the technical committee are Doug Engle and Craig F. Morris. Other collaborators in the group include ADM Milling, Central Milling, Cereal Food Processors, ConAgra Mills, Horizon Milling, Kraft-Nabisco, Continental Mills, Pendleton Flour Milling, the Wheat Marketing Center, Oregon State University, Montana State University, Washington State University, Agri-Pro/Syngenta, WestBred L.L.C., the U.S.D.A. Federal Grain Inspection, the California Wheat Commission, and Gilliam County Wheat Quality Lab.
