BERKELEY, CALIF. — Clif Bar & Co. has introduced CLIF Quench, an 88% organic clear sport drink that contains no artificial colors, flavors, sweeteners or preservatives. The beverage is available in four flavors: fruit punch, lime-ade, orange and strawberry citrus.
"For more than 16 years we’ve been making all-natural, nutritious foods for athletes," said Gary Erickson, founder and co-owner of Clif Bar & Co. "But as athletes, we know that food alone can’t sustain us while training or competing. CLIF Quench is a great way for people who sweat to stay hydrated with a drink that’s as healthy, natural and organic as the foods they eat every day."
In addition to being made primarily with organic ingredients, the new beverage will come in a bottle made of 40% post-consumer recycled PET plastic, the highest percentage of any U.S. bottled beverage, according to Clif Bar & Co. The company said it will contribute 1% of annual revenues received from the sale of CLIF Quench to 1% for the Planet, an alliance of businesses that donate at least 1% of their annual revenues to environmental organizations worldwide.
CLIF Quench is available in 16-oz bottles at natural food and grocery stores nationwide at a suggested retail price of $1.49.
