PORTLAND, ORE. — Franz Family Bakeries, the largest independent, family-owned bakery on the West coast, has purchased Harvest Classic Bakery in Nampa, Idaho, from founders Steve and Mary Ann Adamson. Financial terms were not disclosed.

Founded in 1995, Harvest Classic items are sold throughout Idaho, as well as in-store in Win-Co Foods stores in Idaho. The bakery’s products include Harvest Classic Products, including Harvest Light Oat and Classic Black.
Franz said it will maintain the Harvest Classic name as well as all existing products made at the location. In addition, following the purchase, Franz said it will add a second retail store in October in the Boise area, which will be housed on-site at Harvest Classic Bakery in Nampa.

“We’re pleased to expand our footprint in Idaho and become more involved in the local community,” said Marc Albers, president and chief operating officer of Franz Family Bakeries. “Harvest Classic was an attractive acquisition for us because of its small, handcrafted baking production. We’re thrilled to continue providing Harvest Classic products to the people of Idaho — it will remain a staple of the community.”

Based in Portland, Franz Family Bakeries has made fresh bread, buns, bagels, cookies, and pastries since 1906. Today, Franz has six baking facilities throughout the Northwest and delivers fresh baked goods to grocery, restaurant, food service and institutional customers in Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Northern California and Montana.
