FARGO, N.D. — Joel W. Dick, vice-president and chief operating officer of Dakota Specialty Milling Inc., is retiring effective Dec. 31 following more than 20 years with the company.

Dr. Dick joined Dakota Specialty Milling in 1990, coming to the company from North Dakota State University where he had been a professor of cereal science and food technology.

He began at Dakota Specialty Milling as director of technical sales and marketing and was promoted to his current position in 1996.

“Joel led our manufacturing operations during a period of substantial growth and his contribution forms the base for the company’s future expansion,” said R.C. Axlund, president. “He was always able to analyze and quickly solve problems customers presented to him.”

Dr. Dick said he intends to spend his retirement with family, particularly his eight grandchildren.
