Thaw-and-serve cakes have no trans fat

ATLANTA – CSM Bakery Products has introduced TransSmart thaw-and-serve, trans-fat-free cakes under the Brill brand. The dessert, celebration and holiday cakes help bakeries and food service operators comply with regulatory requirements and eliminate the need to have two versions of essentially the same product, one with trans fat and one without trans fat, according to the company.
“Our research and development process perfected formulations for this entire cake line, retaining the outstanding quality and performance expected from our products,” said Michelle Spohnholz, vice-president, marketing for Atlanta-based CSM Bakery Products. “The elimination of trans fat on the label is the only place where you will notice a difference.”
The TranSmart product line includes finished 7-inch and 8-inch dessert cakes, plus holiday and celebration cakes in 8-inch, as well as quarter-sheet formats. Cake and icing components are available for customers that prefer to decorate onsite. Specialty flavors available in the dessert cakes include carrot, cookies ‘n crème, golden fudge, fudge truffle, coconut, German chocolate, Italian cream, red velvet and lemon.
