LOS ANGELES — Sugar Foods Corp. has acquired the Mrs. Cubbison’s brand from Hostess Brands, Inc., Irving, Texas. Mrs. Cubbison’s products include croutons, dressings and meatloaf mixes. “We will build upon the current platform of items to create new and innovative products in the retail and food service arenas, with particular focus on holiday season products,” said Martin Wilson, chief executive officer of Sugar Foods Corp. Founded in 1948, Sugar Foods Corp. began as a local bulk sugar distributor throughout the New York metro area, but today it has a range of products, including sweeteners, croutons, salad toppings, stuffing and breadcrumbs. For Hostess, the sale continues a downsizing over the past few years that has included a number of baking facility closings.
