Europain 2012 promises to help bakery professionals anticipate major changes
Celebrating baking in all its forms, Europain will be held March 3-7, 2012, in the Nord Villepinte exhibition center in Paris, France. More than 380 exhibitors, as of press time, will showcase their equipment and ingredients in traditional or industrial sections of the exhibition floor.
This year’s show will also highlight new products and equipment from all categories in the Innovations and New Products section of the floor, and a Trends area will show attendees how to stay ahead of their competition, whether they operate a traditional bakery or an industrial facility. Covering more than 1,000 sq m (10,764 sq ft), the Rue des Succès (Success Street) area will provide a link between Europain and partner show SuccessFood. The Rue des Succeès will showcase winning bakery concepts and catering solutions in real-life size.
Among the highlights at the show, the Coupe du Monde de la Boulangerie, the Bakery World Cup, promises to draw crowds as the eighth iteration of the baking competition crowns the successor to France, the current titleholder. In eight hours, plus one hour of preparation the previous day, each 3-person team will produce baguettes and bread from all over the world, sweet Viennese pastries, savory presentations and an artistic piece. On Sunday, March 4, teams from France, Taiwan, Italy and Peru will compete. On Monday, March 5, the US, South Korean, Swedish and Senegalese teams will show their talents. On Tuesday, March 6, representatives from Japan, The Netherlands, Poland and Costa Rica will throw their hats into the ring. The announcement ceremony on Wednesday, March 7, will reveal the team that earns bragging rights until the next competition.
Europain will also host the French Schools Cup, a bakery and pastry contest dedicated to young professionals in initial training, from 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. each day. The most promising young talent will receive recognition during a ceremony on March 7.
