KYIV, UKRAINE — Ukraine will be able to export 20 million to 21 million tons of grain this marketing year, said Mykola Prysyazhnyuk, the Ukrainian Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food. Mr. Prysyazhnyuk said the amount was based on 10 million tons of carry-over stock of grain from last year and this year’s forecasted crop of 45 million to 46 million tons.

So far, Ukraine has harvested 12.1 million tons of wheat, 5.5 million tons of barley, and 336 thousand tons of rye, said Mr. Prysyazhnyuk.

Mykola Azarov, prime minister of Ukraine, said the country’s goal is to double its agricultural production, including increasing grain production to 80 million to 100 million tons per year and vegetables to 30 million to 40 million tons per year.
