Hostess expands Wonder wheat bread varieties

IRVING, TEXAS — Hostess Brands, Inc. has added three new wheat bread varieties to the Wonder brand: 100% whole wheat, honey wheat and wheat sandwich. The bread varieties contain 25% less sodium than traditional wheat bread and have no trans fat, according to Hostess.

In addition, Hostess said Wonder 100% whole wheat bread contains 28 grams of whole grains per serving.

“American families are increasingly opting for healthier foods and looking for ways to reduce their intake of sodium and increase the amount of dietary fiber and whole grains in their diets,” said Stephanie Fletcher, brand manager for Hostess. “Wonder makes it easier and more delicious to make healthy choices with our new line of wheat breads that offer the nutrition families want from a brand they know and love.”

In recent years, Wonder has introduced Smartwhite, Smartwheat and Smartwhite for Kids — a line of bread with no high-fructose corn syrup, the same amount of fiber as 100% whole wheat bread, the calcium of an 8-oz glass of milk and 50 calories per slice.
