HORSHOLM, DENMARK — Chr. Hansen has launched a series of coloring foodstuffs designed for confectionery items. They allow manufacturers to avoid using E-numbers, which are associated with synthetic colors in Europe, on their product labels.

“The main advantage of using coloring foodstuffs is the opportunity to color food with food, so to speak, thereby avoiding E-number declarations on the product label,” said Marianne Bundgaard, product manager of a naturally-sourced colors division for Horsholm-based Chr. Hansen. “This is attractive to many producers, and not only in Europe.”
