November wheat up 34c a bu from October

WASHINGTON — The preliminary national average price received by farmers for all wheat in November was $6.21 per bu, up 34c from $5.87 in October and up $1.42 from $4.79 in November 2009, the U.S. Department of Agriculture said in its latest Agricultural Prices report.

The average price paid for winter wheat in November was $6.04 a bu, up 24c from $5.80 in October and up $1.44 from $4.60 in November 2009. The average price paid for durum was $6.14 a bu, up $1.17 from $4.97 in October and up $1.55 from $4.59 in November 2009. Spring wheat other than durum averaged $6.50 a bu, up 35c from $6.15 in October and up $1.31 from $5.19 in November 2009.

The average price paid for rough rice was $12.10 a cwt, up $1 from October but down $1.90 from $14 a year earlier.

The November index of prices received for food grains was 201 compared with the 1990-92 base of 100, up 6% from 190 in October and up 18% from 171 in November 2009.

The November index for feed grains was 195, up 5% from 185 in October and up 24% from 157 in November 2009. The average price paid to farmers for corn was $4.59 a bu in November, up 27c from $4.32 in October and up 94c from $3.65 in November 2009. Farmers received an average of $8.34 a cwt for grain sorghum in November, up 54c from $7.80 in October and up $2.67 from $5.67 in November 2009. The average price paid for oats in November was $2.57 a bu, up 20c from $2.37 in October and up 55c from $2.02 in November 2009.

The index of November prices received for oilseeds was 193, up 10% from 176 in October and 17% higher than 165 in November 2009. The national average price paid to farmers for soybeans was $11.20 a bu, up $1 from October and up $1.67 from $9.53 in November 2009.

The November index for dairy products was 137, down 3.5% from 142 in October but up 16% from 118 in November 2009. The average price paid to farmers for manufacturing grade milk in November was $15.60 a cwt, down $1.80 from $17.40 in October but up 30c from $15.30 in November 2009.

The poultry and egg index was 161, up 7% from 150 in October and up 18% from 137 in November 2009. The average price paid to farmers for all eggs in November was $1.13 a dozen, up 32c from 81c in October and up 12c from $1.01 in November 2009.
