SAN DIEGO — Sadie Rose Baking Co., a provider of artisan bread to restaurants and hotels in Southern California, has opened a new 23,000-square-foot baking facility.

In developing the new facility, the company’s co-owner, Michael Lipman, visited artisan bakeries in New York, San Francisco, Portland, Ore., and Seattle to study their design. He chose to install stone hearth ovens, a loading system from Italy, and an ingredient management system from Austria.

"The size and layout of the new bakery, along with this state-of-the-art equipment, will not only increase Sadie Rose’s capacity dramatically, but will enable it to take its bread quality and consistency to new heights," the company said. "This new bakery puts Sadie Rose Baking Co. at the forefront of artisan bakeries in the United States."

Sadie Rose’s artisan and specialty bread products include ciabatta, baguettes, dinner rolls, sandwich loaves and gourmet hamburger buns.
