MINNEAPOLIS — French Meadow Bakery, a certified organic bakery based in Minneapolis, is introducing five new whole grain sprouted bread and bagel products that the company said are 100% flourless.

The products — Sprouted 16 Grain & Seed Bagels; Sprouted Cinnamon Raisin Bagels; Sprouted Grain Bread; Sprouted 16 Grain & Seed Bread; and Sprouted Cinnamon Raisin Bread — are made with six all-natural grains and legumes.

Additionally, the bread and bagels contain all nine essential amino acids, are vegan, and are trans-fat free. Dietary fiber in a slice of the bread ranges from 3 grams to 4 grams, while the bagel products contain either 7 grams or 10 grams of dietary fiber in each serving.

"When grains and legumes are sprouted, an amazing thing happens — a complete protein is created, and it’s easier for the body to digest," said Elizabeth Naffziger, marketing manager for French Meadow Bakery. "These are baked goods that are good for your mind, body and soul. They are also very easy to incorporate into your daily diet."

According to French Meadow Bakery, the sprouting process involves soaking the whole wheat berries in filtered water. Then, when the whole wheat berries sprout, the excess water is drained and the "living sprouts" are ground into dough. During this process enzymes are released from the germ of the grain, aiding digestion and allowing for nutrient absorption, French Meadow Bakery said.

The bread is available in a 24-oz loaf while the bagels come in a five-count, 17.5-oz package. Both have a suggested retail price of $4.99.
