THOMASVILLE, GA. — Flowers Foods Inc. this week introduced Nature’s Own Sandwich Rounds. Available in 100% whole wheat and healthy multi-grain varieties, the 100-calorie Sandwich Rounds come in 8-count packages with a re-sealable zipper to ensure freshness.

“Our new Sandwich Rounds are perfectly portioned for those looking for an alternative to traditional sandwich breads and rolls,” said Brent Bradshaw, brand manager for Flowers Foods. “At only 100 calories per round, they make healthy eating simple for calorie-conscious consumers and those who simply want less bread with meals. Our extensive research indicates that in addition to leaner sandwiches, consumers also are looking forward to the added ease of a re-sealable package.”

Flowers also announced the Feb. 1 scheduled launch of Nature’s Own Thin Sliced Bagels. With a diameter of 4 inches, the Thin Sliced Bagels fit into a toaster like a traditional bagel, but have 140 to 150 calories, significantly less than standard bagels, Flowers said.

Thin Sliced Bagels are available in 8-count packages in two varieties: original or 100% whole wheat. The 100% whole wheat variety contains 33 grams of whole grain and 5 grams of fiber per serving.

“Thin Sliced Bagels are perfect for consumers who are watching their weight and want a lighter bagel without sacrificing that great bagel taste and texture,” said Sherry Harper, brand manager for Flowers Foods. “Toasted and topped with light cream cheese for breakfast or part of a delicious sandwich for lunch or dinner, Thin Sliced Bagels are as versatile as traditional bagels — just not as filling.”

Both the Sandwich Rounds and the Thin Sliced Bagels have a suggested retail price of $2.49.
