PHOENIX — The board of directors of NutraCea has named Leo G. Gingras as president. Mr. Gingras, who joined NutraCea in 2007 as chief operating officer, will retain the title of c.o.o.

Prior to joining NutraCea, Mr. Gingras spent 18 years at Riceland Foods, Inc., where he managed business units with more than $320 million in sales.


“Leo is a key member of our management team and one of the few true industry specialists in development of value-added rice-based products,” said W. John Short, chairman and chief executive officer. “His promotion is confirmation of the significant contributions Leo has made to NutraCea since joining our organization and his importance to the future of our business. I deeply appreciate his continuing leadership and dedication to our company and look forward to collaborating with him and other members of management as we continue to reposition NutraCea.”

NutraCea filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection on Nov. 10, 2009.

The company’s board of directors also named William J. Cadigan as chief financial officer and announced that Kody Newland has signed a new two-year contract to remain as senior vice-president of sales.

Mr. Cadigan most recently was vice-president of finance since July 2009. Additionally, he has been a partner with Tatum, L.L.C. since 2004.

Mr. Newland joined NutraCea in 2006 and is a veteran sales and marketing professional with nearly three decades of experience.
