BOULDER, COLO. — James W. Nolan, formerly chief executive officer of Sara Lee Fresh Bakery, has joined Breyers Yogurt Co., L.L.C. as c.e.o. He succeeds Chuck Marcy, who has decided to leave the company to pursue outside interests.

In addition to executive vice-president and c.e.o. at Sara Lee Fresh Bakery, Mr. Nolan also was senior vice-president and c.e.o. of Sara Lee’s Foodservice Division, where he developed and implemented sales, marketing, supply chain and consolidating strategies that supported revenue growth and margin expansion.

“My decision to join Breyers Yogurt Co. from Sara Lee reflects my belief in the company’s prospects for continued growth and product innovation,” Mr. Nolan said. “Among the most respected brands in the U.S. food industry, consumers recognize Breyers and YoCrunch yogurts for their great taste, all natural heritage and healthy-indulgent positioning. Breyers has also been a leader in introducing new products into the yogurt category with successful launches of Breyers Inspirations, YoCrunch 100, and Breyers Disney products. In joining Breyers, I see an opportunity to build on this success by continuing to launch new products and further strengthening our retail partnerships to accelerate both growth and profitability.”

Prior to joining Sara Lee, Mr. Nolan was executive vice-president, U.S. operations for PepsiAmericas, Inc. Previously, he worked for 21-years at PepsiCo, Inc., most recently as senior vice-president of sales and marketing development for Pepsi-Cola North America. Mr. Nolan began his career at The Procter & Gamble Co.

He received a bachelor’s of science degree from Ithaca College in Ithaca, N.Y.
