THOMASVILLE, GA. — Flowers Foods, Inc. has introduced gluten-free bread under its Nature’s Own brand at select Publix and Kroger stores in Atlanta. The bread is produced at a dedicated facility that is free of wheat and gluten.

The gluten-free bread is available in two varieties, Extra Fiber White and Healthy Multi-Grain. Each slice contains 8 grams of whole grain and 3 grams of fiber. The non-refrigerated, pre-sliced bread contains no artificial preservatives, colors or flavors, and it is free of high-fructose corn syrup. The suggested retail price is $5.99 for a 20-oz package.

“Gluten is common in many every day foods,” said Evette O’Connor, a registered dietician and Nature’s Own Sandwich chef. “That’s why people on gluten-free diets must be very focused and careful about what they eat. Now that Nature’s Own Gluten Free bread is available, those with celiac disease or gluten sensitivity can once again walk down the aisle of their local grocers and pick up a loaf that meets their strict dietary needs.”
