On June 1, Dan Malovany joined the editorial team at Baking & Snack, a Sosland Publishing Co. magazine, based at Kansas City, MO. With a now combined 112 years of industry experience among the Baking & Snack editors, each issue provides premium insight and information, creating a superior quality product.

“The company welcomes Dan with all that he can contribute to our readers and editorial products,” said Mark Sabo, president of Sosland Publishing Co. “He brings his many years of experience reporting about the baking industry to our already strong team of Steve Berne, Laurie Gorton, Shane Whitaker, Jennifer Fox and Holly Bradley.”

Mr. Malovany was formerly editor of Snack Food & Wholesale Baking and, before that, editor of Bakery Production & Marketing (now a Sosland Publish-ing title). Earlier, he worked for newspapers in suburban Chicago, IL; Provi-dence, RI; Elyria, OH; Macon, GA; and Kansas City, MO. He holds bachelors and masters degrees in journalism from Northwestern University, Evanston, IL.

At Baking & Snack, Mr. Malovany will have the opportunity to write in depth about a variety of topics from ingredients and processing/packaging technologies to features about baking companies around the country and around the world. A new monthly column, “From My Perspective,” will allow his unique views and opinions to strike up a conversation with readers. He will also write a weekly e-newsletter, Operations Update, to provide on-line readers a timely snapshot of news, events and updates affecting the industry.

Along with his own expertise garnered over 20 years in the industry, Mr. Malovany will have access to resources at Sosland Publishing through its publications Baking & Snack International, Milling & Baking News, Food Business News, Baking Buyer and others, plus those of editorial colleagues and the connections fostered during the past 90 years as a family-owned publishing company specializing in the grain-based foods industry.

In addition to his anticipated contributions to Baking & Snack, Baking & Snack International and Snack World, Mr. Malovany will be working on more general efforts for the company through webinars, custom publishing pieces, seminars and other assignments. He also will be an additional strong voice in our Twitter and LinkedIn online communities.
