KEOKUK, IOWA — Roquette America Inc. has received approximately $2.5 million in tax benefits from the Iowa Department of Economic Development to support a $27 million remodeling project at a feed house at its corn wet milling plant in Keokuk.

Roquette earlier this year agreed to modernize the feed house after it was fined $1 million for exceeding air pollution emission limits. The remodeling is expected to improve the energy efficiency of the plant and significantly reduce emissions of regulated air pollutants.

Roquette manufactures a variety of corn starches, starch derivatives and corn syrup at the Keokuk plant, which has about 500 employees.
