WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. — Andrew J. Burke has been named interim chief financial officer at Bunge Ltd., effective Sept. 24. Mr. Burke succeeds Jacqualyn A. Fouse, who is leaving to become c.f.o. of Celgene Corp., a global biopharmaceutical company. Ms. Fouse has been c.f.o. since 2007.

Bunge said it has begun a search for Ms. Fouse’s permanent replacement.

“Jackie has made many contributions to Bunge during her tenure,” said Alberto Weisser, chairman and chief executive officer. “She spearheaded initiatives to increase efficiency and provided valuable leadership during a particularly volatile time in our markets and the global economy. I would like to express our appreciation and wish her success in her future endeavors.

“At the same time, I am pleased that Drew will serve as interim c.f.o. He is a highly experienced executive with strong finance and operational expertise. Given his deep knowledge of Bunge, we expect a smooth transition.”

Mr. Burke joined Bunge in 2002 and has been co-chief executive officer of global agribusiness and product lines. He also has worked as managing director of soy ingredients and new business development. He was interim c.f.o. from April 2007 to July 2007.

Prior to joining Bunge, Mr. Burke was c.e.o. of Degussa Corp. He also held various finance and management positions at the company.
