DOWNERS GROVE, ILL. — Hearthside Food Solutions L.L.C. has announced plans to expand its baking facility in Michigan City, Ind. The expansion effort involves investing $3.8 million in the addition of 23,000 square feet of production space and hiring 100 additional employees. The company expects the expansion effort to be completed by 2014.

“The prospect of expanding our plant creates efficiencies and opens up new opportunities for Hearthside Food in Michigan City,” said Bob Wojcik, plant manager of the Michigan City facility.

Hearthside Food Solutions is a contract manufacturer that produces snack food products for companies such as the Kellogg Co. and Kraft Foods Inc. The company currently has 12 production facilities in the United States.

The Michigan City facility was acquired by Hearthside Food in May 2010 as part of the company’s acquisition of the Consolidated Biscuit Co., McComb, Ohio. The facility currently employs 320.
