BOSTON — Oldways and the Whole Grains Council have announced Vicki Burt of Shamokin, Pa., as the first-place winner in the Whole Grains Stampede sweepstakes.

Ms. Burt is a retired probation officer who is now serving as a foster mom. Quaker Oats Co. sponsored the prizes, and the first-place prize was a year’s worth of Quaker products and $5,000 to spend on groceries. In addition to the grocery money, Ms. Burt will receive a quarterly delivery of 12 boxes of Quaker Chewy Granola Bars; six boxes of Quaker Oatmeal Squares Cereal; three boxes of Instant Quaker Oatmeal; and three boxes of Old Fashioned Quaker Oatmeal.

Diane Kleeman of Rockford, Ill., was the second-place winner and received an iPad2, and the first 300 people who entered received discount coupons.

The sweepstakes took place in September, and consumers were entered by visiting the Whole Grains Council web site and sharing their favorite whole grain products. The most popular whole grain products consumers named in the sweepstakes were oatmeal, cold cereal, whole grain bread, brown rice, whole grain pasta, ready-made entrees, crackers, popcorn, granola bars and corn chips.
