WASHINGTON — Jim Bower, president of Bower Trading, will serve as the anchor speaker at the March 28 business session of the American Bakers Association. The A.B.A. annual meeting will be held March 26-30 at the J.W. Marriott, San Antonio Hill Country in San Antonio.

Mr. Bower’s address to the bakers will be in the wake of a dramatic advance in baking ingredient prices. He last spoke to the A.B.A. in 2009, also after an explosive price rise.

Mr. Bower has more than 30 years of experience in the commodities and futures market. His company, Bower Trading, is a full service commodities futures and options brokerage firm specializing in trading the global agricultural market. Mr. Bower is a frequent guest on business shows on CNBC, MSNBC and Bloomberg providing keen observations on energy and commodity markets.

Robb MacKie, president and chief executive officer of the A.B.A., said the 2009 presentation by Mr. Bower was well received.

“When it comes to the commodities market, Mr. Bower is a well-respected pro,” Mr. MacKie said. “With the markets more tumultuous than ever, he will be a tremendous source of practical, relevant guidance that will help guide our industry leaders to manage ever-growing commodity risk. It is this sort of information that makes A.B.A.’s convention so very valuable for attendees.”
