FARGO, N.D. — SK Food International has added ancient grains to its ingredient portfolio. They include amaranth, quinoa, millet, sorghum, spelt and teff and come in whole form as well as precooked flakes and flours. Identity-preserved, certified-organic options are available.

Product applications include, but are not limited to, cereals, tortillas, snack foods, baby food, flat bread, baking mixes and energy bars. Ancient grains receive their name because they have remained unchanged by modern science and breeding technologies over time, according to Fargo-based SK Food International. They are known for their high levels of protein and content of omega-3 fatty acids and antioxidants.

“The ability to offer our line of ancient grains in a whole grain form, as well as a precooked flake or raw flour, provides wide versatility for our customers’ varying applications,” said Jennifer Tesch, sales and marketing director of SK Food International. “As an ingredient solution provider, we are able to provide assistance in the product formulation stage and recommend a product that will best fit with a specific application and desired final product. The ancient grains, flakes and flours are all products that easily incorporate into a variety of food applications.”
