Qdoba testing whole wheat tortillas

DENVER — Qdoba Mexican Grill is testing whole wheat tortillas at all its locations in the greater Seattle and Portland, Ore., area.

“Mexican cuisine often has a stereotype of being unhealthy, but in reality, true Mexican fare utilizes plenty of fresh ingredients and can be very healthy,” said Ted Stoner, Qdoba’s head chef and director of strategic product development. “Our new whole wheat tortillas reflect our continued dedication to offering our guests healthier menu options without sacrificing flavor.”

In addition to the introduction of whole wheat tortillas, Qdoba said it recently replaced its existing flour tortilla recipe at all its restaurants with a new flour tortilla recipe that is lower in fat and calories and higher in fiber.
Founded in 1995, Qdoba operates more than 500 restaurants in 42 states and the District of Columbia. The company is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Jack in the Box Inc.
