The Kellogg Company, Battle Creek, MI, launches Rice Krispies Gluten Free cereal. The cereal, to be sold alongside original Rice Krispies, eliminates barley malt, the source of gluten in the original Rice Krispies cereal, and is made instead with whole-grain brown rice. Each serving of the new gluten-free cereal contains 120 Cal, less than 1 g sugar, 1 g each of fat and fiber, 3 g protein and 190 mg of sodium. The suggested retail price for new Rice Krispies Gluten Free cereal is the same as the original cereal. Kellogg produces the new cereal in a dedicated facility that has been making gluten-free foods for nearly a decade.
