ZURICH, SWITZERLAND — Peter Boone has been named chief innovation officer of Barry Callebaut AG, effective Dec. 3. In his new role, Mr. Boone will be a member of the executive committee of the company and will report directly to Juergen Steinemann, chief executive officer.

Mr. Boone most recently has been vice-president of marketing for Australasia at Unilever since November 2010. In that role he was responsible for the marketing of all brands in all categories in Australia and New Zealand. Earlier, he worked as marketing and new venture director on two of Unilever’s foods brands in The Netherlands, vice-president of marketing and sales for Latin America Foods Solutions, and strategy analyst at the company’s main office in Rotterdam, The Netherlands. He started his career at the information services division of ITT Corp.

“I am happy Peter is joining us,” Mr. Steinemann said. “He brings a best-in-class strategic marketing background in B-to-C business, and combines this with extensive experience also in B-to-B, innovation and gourmet areas. All this fits well with the chief innovation officer’s role.”

Mr. Boone received a doctorate in business administration from the Erasmus University in Rotterdam.
