AUBURN, MAINE — Flowers Foods, Inc.’s Nature’s Own bread brand is now available throughout the Northeast in select supermarkets and grocery retail stores.

The new markets include: Boston and Springfield, Mass.; Providence, R.I.; Hartford, Conn.; Portland, Maine; Manchester, N.H.; and Albany, N.Y.

Flowers said Lepage Bakeries in Auburn is baking the Nature’s Own bread in the Northeast. Flowers acquired Lepage for $370 million in cash and stock in July. The transaction was first announced May 31.

“We couldn’t be more excited to bring America’s most popular bread brand — Nature’s Own — to New England,” said Mike McCall, president of Lepage Bakeries. “Nature’s Own breads are baked with the same fine ingredients and care as our Country Kitchen and Barowsky’s products, but have their own unique flavor, texture, and healthy attributes. They are wholesome and taste great.”

Mr. McCall noted Nature’s Own distribution is still growing in the Northeast.

“If people don’t see Nature’s Own in their favorite supermarket bread aisle, they should mention it to the store manager, and check again on their next shopping trip as distribution will continue to expand over the next few months,” he said.
