NEW YORK – Taco Bell is testing a dollar menu in two markets. The “$1 Cravings Menu” features nine items organized by what the fast-food chain considers to be five “craveable” categories: beefy, cheesy, spicy, crunchy and sweet.

Items include a beefy cheese burrito, a cheesy roll-up, a cheesy bean and rice burrito, a spicy chicken mini quesadilla, a spicy cheesy roll-up, triple-layer nachos, a tostada, a caramel apple empanada, and cinnamon twists.

Several options are featured on Taco Bell’s current “Why Pay More” value menu, which includes offerings priced at 89c and 99c.

Tests for the new dollar menu began in October in Fresno, Calif., and Knoxville, Tenn., and are expected to continue for at least a couple more months before Taco Bell decides whether to roll out the menu more widely.
