ST. LOUIS — George Allard, whose background at Bunge North America includes leadership of the company’s milling and oil businesses has been promoted to vice-president and chief financial officer.

As vice-president and c.f.o. Mr. Allard succeeds Todd Bastean, who was promoted in June 2013 to chief executive officer of Bunge North America, the North American operating business of Bunge Ltd. Bunge North America also said Matt Gibson has joined Bunge North America as vice-president and general manager of the company’s grain operations.

Mr. Allard has been with Bunge since 2004, first as treasurer of Bunge North America and then as chief financial officer for the Bunge Ltd. businesses in Canada and Latin America. He then returned to Bunge North America as head of milling operations before moving to his most recent position of vice-president and general manager of the oils business.

“George’s experience leading key business units along with his financial background provide the right skills for this position, and we look forward to his continued leadership,” Mr. Bastean said.  “We are also pleased to have Matt join our team. He is a well-respected leader in the industry who brings to Bunge a successful track record in facility and trading management.”

Mr. Gibson joined Bunge from Gavilon where he most recently was regional vice-president of its northern grain group. His experience in the grain business dates back more than 18 years. He began his career as a merchandiser trainee for Continental Grain Co. in 1995 and also worked for the ConAgra Trade Group, which became a part of Gavilon.

Bunge North America’s grain business operates 85 grain storage facilities with 219 million bus of storage capacity, ranking the company as the fifth largest grain storage company in North America, according to the2014 Grain & Milling Annual, a Sosland Publishing Co. publication.
