WASHINGTON — Steve Forbes, chairman and editor-in-chief of Forbes Media, will be the keynote speaker at the American Bakers PAC Dinner and Roundtable set for March 17 in Scottsdale, Ariz.

“Steve Forbes brings a wealth of knowledge and insight, not only into politics, but the many challenges facing business leaders as well, so there will be something for everyone in this year’s PAC events,” said Steve Avera, chairman of American Bakers PAC and executive vice-president and secretary and general counsel of Thomasville, Ga.-based Flowers Foods, Inc.

Under Mr. Forbes’ leadership, Forbes Media has launched a variety of new publications and businesses. In both 1996 and 2000, Mr. Forbes campaigned for the Republican nomination for the presidency. Key to his platform were a flat tax, medical savings accounts, a new Social Security system for working Americans, parental choice of schools for their children, term limits and a strong national defense.  Mr. Forbes continues to promote this agenda.

The American Bakers PAC Dinner is a ticketed event during the American Bakers Association Convention.  Invitations and ticket order forms will be e-mailed to authorized A.B.A. members on Jan. 23. To learn more about the PAC Dinner and A.B.A.’s political activities, please contact Kelly Knowles, senior director of political affairs at the A.B.A., at (202) 789-0300 or via e-mail at kknowles@americanbakers.org.

“We are very excited to bring such a well-respected business and political leader to Scottsdale for this year’s American Bakers PAC Dinner, sponsored by Berry Plastics,” Ms. Knowles said. “A limited number of high-dollar donors will also be able to meet personally with Mr. Forbes during a roundtable discussion, sponsored by AMF Bakery Systems, prior to the dinner. Funds raised will allow American Bakers PAC to support candidates who support bakers and the business community in the 2014 election.”
