ATCHISON, KAS. — Inclusion Technologies L.L.C. has acquired the assets of AnaCon Foods Co., including a 30,000-square-foot manufacturing facility in Atchison that will serve as headquarters for Inclusion. Inclusion, a new ingredient and management company, is focused on investments and acquisitions in the food inclusion category.

Beginning this summer, Inclusion will produce food ingredient products for the industrial market, including a line of nut-free ingredients and other customized inclusions, clusters, nut replacers and nut extenders.  Manufacturing will take place in the Atchison nut-free facility.

Prior to closing in December 2013, AnaCon produced snacks and food ingredient products marketed under such names as Wheat Nuts, Bowlby’s Bits, Mix-Ups, Bits-O-Flavor and Wheat Germ Nuts. The company created inclusions and particulates that duplicate the characteristic flavors, colors, textures and appearance of nuts, fruits and sweet ingredients used by food processors in formulated products.

“We are very excited to acquire these unique and proprietary assets, which we will modernize and reposition under our new ownership and direction,” said Christopher Jansen, president of Inclusion. “The plant, processes and diverse product technologies offer our new business a very strong platform to build a larger, more diversified inclusion business upon.”

Future plans for the facility include expanding capabilities to include product coating, panning, enrobing, and additional clustering, Inclusion said. The company said it plans to hire 17 employees over the next five years.

“Inclusion Technologies investment in the AnaCon Foods manufacturing facility is another sign of the strength of Kansas’ food processing industry,” said Kansas Commerce Secretary Pat George. “As this industry continues its rapid development in our state, companies such as Inclusion are contributing to our robust economic growth through job creation and capital investment.”

PLEASE bring back Wheat Nuts!!! Wheat Nuts! Wheat Nuts!! THIS PRODUCT is SO GREAT for us with nut allergies!! Wwill they be available for purchase ?

By Chris P 12/31/2014 1:40:04 PM
In further discussion with Dennis, they still own the rights to the Wheat Nuts name & once they are able to sell through the retail distribution channel, it will still be marketed as Wheat Nuts. I was wrong in my statement further down stating that Wheat Nuts is now Nadanut; my apologies. The Nadanut product line is slightly different. They are essentially nut replacers and extenders and are flavored to taste like specific nuts such as pecans, walnuts, cashews and pistachio. Although not confirmed, there is a definite possibility that once they are able to sell smaller units of the Wheat Nuts product to the consuming public, potentially, their entire line could become available through this channel. This is good news for any person or family member/friend of someone with a nut allergy you want to bake for. Again, best place to keep up to date with the latest information is on their website, Twitter or Linked In. Best regard!

FYI...Dennis Reid is the VP for Sales and Marketing at Inclusion Technologies LLC. Thank you Dennis for the update!

By Dennis Reid 12/31/2014 8:54:55 AM
Thank you for your nice emails and for your loyalty and interest in the Wheat Nuts product. As you can imagine, once there is a supply interruption in the retail channel, it is very hard to get reestablished some months later. We bought the assets in April and we were not able to produce any product in the plant until late October, so the market gap has been almost a year now. Given the large expense and amount of resources involved with trying to get the retail business re-established for only two facings and sku's (Wheat Nuts and Unsalted Wheat Nuts), we have decided to focus on the Industrial Ingredients business instead for now. However, we want you to know that we are actively looking for a retail Distribution partner that already has retail presence and could add these two sku's to their existing facings and can effectively negotiate the slotting fees and support expectations accordingly. In addition to this, we are also actively discussing the option of making Wheat Nuts available online through some type of eStore, but we have to figure out a consumer-friendly packaging option for this first, because right now we are only packing product in bulk. Please keep you eye on our website, or our Twitter or Linked In pages, for any change in this situation because we will post this as soon as we are able to offer Wheat Nuts to the consuming public again. Have a Happy New Year and we hope that in 2015, you will once again be able to have your Wheat Nuts!

By Chris P 12/30/2014 4:18:35 PM
WheatNuts are now NadaNut. Go to Inclusion Technologies website. I don't think this system is allowing me to add the web address or phone numbers in the comments but Google Nadanut - Inclusion Technologies. Not sure if you have to order directly through them or take the information to your local grocery store but hope this helps! Good luck everyone!

Please put me on the list for wheat nut seekers. This snack was a favorite of my deceased Mother. I would bring her a jar with a weekly visit. My kids called them "grandma snacks" We were able to enjoy fond memories of "grandma snacks" as I bought them every time my now grown children visit and every holiday. Sadly my grandkids tasted Wheat Nuts once, please bring them back!
