Maker of frozen wholesale products ranked No. 6 on list of 100-fastest growing companies in Pittsburgh.

ZELIENOPLE, PA. — 5 Generation Bakers, a commercial manufacturer of frozen wholesale products, posted a 242% revenue increase for the period January 2011 through December 2013, earning the company the No. 6 spot in the Pittsburgh Business Times list of the 100 fastest-growing area companies.

The company was founded four years ago by Scott Baker, literally a fifth generation baker. 5 Generation Bakers, known for manufacturing Jenny Lee Cinnamon Swirl Breads, was founded by Mr. Baker after a 14-year tenure at Jenny Lee until it closed down in 2008.

“We’ve been very fortunate to have found and retained a very dedicated bakery staff, without which this growth could not have happened,” Mr. Baker said. “We were equally lucky to have hired a very effective group of brokers to get our product out into the trade.”

Mr. Baker’s original goal was to double revenue and production each year of operation. This goal has easily been met, and has sparked the designing and planning for a new plant. The company expects to move production there in early 2016.

I am so glad that I am able to buy this bread and have it shipped to the nursing home where I have been for the last five years. I grew up with Jenny Lee bakery but I remember Paul Baker from back in the 40s. They have always had a good product and I'm glad I can still enjoy it. Thanks Scott for my regular deliveries of my bread, I look forward to the seasonal breads.
