DALLAS — Dallas-based ingredients distributor BCW filled over 10,500 “Boxes of Blessings” with help from the local community this year. For the 10th consecutive year BCW took part in the program, which aims to provide needy families with a box of food that will last for a week during the Christmas season.

The ingredients distributor partners with volunteers from churches and faith-based ministries to distribute over 10,500 food boxes.

The project brings together over 1,500 volunteers from local churches and faith-based ministries who help pack and distribute the boxes. Four out of five families below the poverty line make the choice between buying food and presents during the holidays. Texas has one of the highest percentages of families living below the poverty line of any state in the nation.

Until 2014, “Boxes of Blessings” primarily focused on assisting families in the Texas cities of San Antonio and Houston. BCW now has expanded the program to Atchison, Kas., partnering with MPG Ingredients.
