Reading Bakery Systems enhances Low-Pressure Extruder

The Low-Pressure Extruder from Reading Baking Systems creates a range of snack products.

ROBESONIA, PA. — Reading Bakery Systems (RBS) redesigned its Low-Pressure Extruder to make it safer, more efficient and easier to clean. The extruder creates a wide variety of pretzel and snack products, including pretzel shapes, sticks, braids, bread snacks, filled products and more.

The redesigned machinery now includes augers that deliver increased product flow; new lightweight, single-piece hoppers; pre-feed rolls made of plastics; an improved cutting mechanism with a longer service life; upgraded guarding for increased safety; and a bandcutter cam that reduces contamination and provide easier maintenance access. Other options include pre-feed rollers, rotating nozzle dies for braided twist production and unique co-extrusions for the production of filled products.

“The redesign is the result of our commitment to continuous improvement through our SafeShield Program, which is an ongoing effort to find new and better ways of enhancing the safety and sanitation of our equipment,” said Joseph Zaleski, president, RBS. “This enables us to support our customers as they deal with the increasing challenges of modern snack food production.” 

The Low-Pressure Extruder and other equipment will be highlighted at the RBS booth (Booth 435) at Snaxpo 2018, March 12-14 in Atlanta.
