KANSAS CITY – Still facing a challenging macroeconomic environment, restaurants and retailers have responded to consumer behaviors. To stay competitive, a number of chains have expanded their global footprint during the year.

Convenience stores and dollar stores have become more competitive in food service, with such brands as 7-Eleven adding more prepared foods and establishing partnerships with large food makers.
