EDISON, N.J. — Northeast Foods will expand its Automatic Rolls of New Jersey bakery in Edison by adding cold storage distribution and process space. The work, which is expected to be completed early in 2018, includes 7,500 square feet of freezer space with 510 new pallet positions.

Baltimore-based Northeast Foods, which specializes in bread and roll baking, serves McDonald’s and other multi-chain casual dining operations as well as retail and wholesale customers. The company has nine plants operating in five states.

A M King, a design-build firm based in Charlotte, N.C., has begun work on the expansion, A M King said Nov. 28. The project also will include a new retaining wall, a new access road and energy-efficient lighting. During construction, the plant will continue to operate non-stop with three shifts seven days a week.

In October, A M King announced it had begun expansion at a Northeast Foods’ Automatic Rolls of New England bakery in Dayville, Conn. The work includes additions to the freezer, cooler dock and second-floor engine room. The expansion in Dayville also should be completed early in 2018.
