OTTAWA — The Canada Border Services Agency on Dec. 28 launched an investigation into whether certain dry wheat pasta originating in or exported from the Republic of Turkey is being sold at unfair prices in Canada. The agency also said it is investigating whether subsidies are being applied to certain dry wheat pasta originating in or exported from Turkey.

The investigation follows a complaint filed by the Canadian Pasta Manufacturers Association of Ottawa, which includes Italpasta Ltd., Primo Foods Inc. and Grisspasta Products Ltd. The companies allege they face lost production, lost sales, price depression, loss of employment and reduced profitability as a result of price undercutting from Turkey.
