KANSAS CITY — When consumers choose their morning meals, they are looking for healthful options to fuel their days. Food manufacturers are seeking to help these consumers boost their breakfasts with new products featuring nutrient-rich ingredients.

Kellogg’s Kashi brand is harnessing healthy ingredients with its release of five new organic, Non-GMO Project Verified breakfast options. Kashi’s new Overnight Muesli contains whole grains like barley and rye and fruits such as cherries, pepitas and chias. The new Organic Promise Sweet Potato Sunshine cereal is a whole grain flake cereal made with organic rice, wheat, sweet potatoes, cinnamon and molasses. The brand’s new Organic Promise Sprouted Grains Cereal is made with organic sprouted grains such as wheat, spelt and amaranth. Kashi’s Organic Promise Granola pairs ancient grains with superfoods like cranberry and spelt or coconut and Kamut Khorasan wheat. Kashi Organic Chewy Granola and Seed Bars are made with 100% whole grains, fruits, nuts and seeds.

Snyder’s-Lance’s Lance Snacks brand is providing protein and whole grains in its five new flavors of Quick Starts mini breakfast biscuit sandwiches. The new flavors - bacon cheddar, vanilla Greek yogurt, raspberry Greek yogurt, Everything Bagel, and chocolate cream — offer 13 grams of whole grain and 3 grams of protein per serving.

Pereg Gourmet crafted with the superfood quinoa to create its new line of Quinoa Pops cereal. Made from popped quinoa, the cereal comes in vanilla, strawberry, chocolate, and original varieties. The cereals are non-bioengineered, gluten-free, and contain no artificial flavors or colors.

Whole grain gluten-free oats are the healthful fuel of focus in Bob’s Red Mill’s new product: gluten-free oatmeal cups, featuring blends of whole grain gluten-free oats, seeds, nuts, fruits and spices. The oatmeals provide 7 grams of protein per serving.
