KANSAS CITY — The Kellogg Co. plans to ring in 2016 by releasing a slew of new products. According to the company, each product reflects “new or emerging consumer needs and preferences.”

Catering to consumers’ craving for convenient breakfast options, Kellogg is introducing Kellogg’s To Go Breakfast Mix and cereals in a cup. The mixes combine larger-than-usual cereal pieces and nuts — for “optimal finger-to-mouth munching” — in a resealable pouch designed to fit in car cup holders. Available in salted caramel and praline almond and cinnamon roasted candied pecan varieties, the on-the-go mixes provide 4 grams of protein, 3 grams of fiber and 15 grams of whole grain per serving. The company also is offering some of its newest cereals in portable cups for consumers on the go. The new grab-and-go options include Frosted Flakes with Energy Clusters, Special K Protein, Froot Loops Bloopers and Special K Granola.

For those looking for unique or fruity flavors in the morning, Kellogg is offering a handful of new cereals and new Pop-Tarts flavors. Kellogg’s Special K brand is launching a new line of cereal called Special K Nourish. The cereals, featuring multi-grain quinoa flakes, are available in two flavor combinations: apple raspberry almond and coconut cranberry almond. Kellogg’s Mini Wheats brand is debuting its Harvest Delights cereals made with red wheat. The Cranberry with Yogurt Drizzle variety features baked-in cranberry bits topped with a yogurt drizzle, while the Blueberry with with Vanilla Drizzle offers baked-in blueberry. Back by popular demand, Kellogg is reintroducing its Kellogg’s Smorz cereal, which features crunchy graham cereal pieces in a chocolate coating with marshmallows. Bringing the nostalgic flavors of peanut butter and jelly to breakfast, Kellogg is offering new JIF PB&J cereal. The cereal includes whole grain squares coated with JIF peanut butter and crunchy strawberry-flavored puffs. Kellogg also is providing Pop-Tarts lovers with three new flavors and two limited edition varieties: Frosted Chocolatey Caramel, maple bacon and seasonal varieties watermelon, pink lemonade and spring strawberry.

For snackers seeking bold flavors and healthier options, Kellogg’s Pringles, Cheez-It, Nutri-Grain and Keebler brands are serving up new snacks. Kellogg’s Pringles brand is unveiling two new varieties: Tortilla Chili Cheese, to meet the demand for bold flavors, and Lightly Salted Original Crisps to offer a more healthful option. The Cheez-It brand is introducing two snack mixes — Sweet and Salty with M&Ms snack mix and Sriracha snack mix — along with Cheez-It Grooves Hot & Spicy Cheddar crackers. For a more nutritious choice, Kellogg’s Nutri-Grain line is introducing Fruit and Nut bars. The bars are available in cherry almond and blueberry almond flavors. Kellogg’s Keebler brand is offering two new varieties of thin cookies made with simple ingredients like flour, eggs, butter and sugar. The cookies are available in two varieties: chocolate chip cookie thins and Simply Made Crispy Lemon Sugar Cookies.

For busy consumers looking for frozen foods to make meal prep time easier, Kellogg’s Eggo and MorningStar Farms brands are launching new frozen food products. Kellogg’s Eggo brand is introducing a breakfast choice that can go from toaster to table: Thick and Fluffy Chocolatey Chip Strawberry waffles. Kellogg’s MorningStar Farms is unveiling Meal Starters Chik’n Strips and Steak Strips, which offer meatless protein to help lessen meal preparation time. Each serving contains 23 grams of protein per serving and 150 calories. The brand also is offering easy-to-prepare vegetable bowls in Thai Yellow Curry and Mushroom & Asparagus Orzo varieties along with White Bean Chili Burgers.
