KANSAS CITY — In a time of consumers giving up gluten, nixing non-organic and bypassing bioengineered ingredients, food manufacturers are making the baking aisle a little friendlier for consumers seeking free-from foods.

For those opting only for organic, General Mills’ is introducing a line of Annie’s organic baking mixes. The products contain no hydrogenated oils, bioengineered ingredients, artificial flavors, synthetic colors or preservatives. Certified organic and featuring unbleached flour, Annie’s organic baking mixes come in five varieties: sugar cookie, double chocolate brownie, chocolate chip cookie, pancake and waffle, and cookie brownie bar.

Pamela’s Products is providing a plethora of pancake options for gluten-free and grain-free consumers. The company is launching a nut flour blend, a grain-free pancake mix and sprouted grain pancake mixes in five varieties: buttermilk, protein, non-dairy, 6 grain and buckwheat. All seven new products are certified gluten-free, Non-GMO Project verified, and free of xanthan gum, guar gums, artificial colors, flavors and preservatives.

For those who say ‘no’ to G.M.O.s,  Foodstirs is unveiling its line of G.M.O.-free, U.S.D.A. organic, baking kits and mixes. All Foodstirs products use ingredients that may be traced to the farm where they came from, including Biodynamic Cane Sugar from Wholesome Sweeteners, Equal Exchange Cocoa and Chocolate Chips, organic pastry flour, organic unbleached wheat flour, and dye-free sprinkles. Foodstirs’ baking kits are available in three varieties: Frosted Cake Pop, Celebration Cupcake and Brownie Pop.

Foodstirs’ baking mixes have no more than nine ingredients and may be made in six steps or less. The mixes are available in four flavors: Sweet Tooth Sugar Cookie Mix, Chocolate Lovers Brownie Mix, Chocolate Chippy Cookie Mix and Simply Sweet Vanilla Cake Mix.
