NEW YORK – Edward M. Slezak has been appointed permanent chief executive officer of Crumbs Bake Shop, Inc., the company said March 14. Mr. Slezak had served as interim c.e.o. since Jan. 1 after Julian R. Geiger decided not to continue as president and c.e.o. when his employment agreement ended on Dec. 31, 2013. Mr. Slezak had been senior vice-president, general counsel and secretary at that time.

Also on March 14, Crumbs Bake Shop appointed Frederick G. Kraegel, a member of the board of directors, as chairman of the board while Ronda S. Kase was named secretary for Crumbs Bake Shop. Ms. Kase had served as corporate compliance officer of the company and Crumbs Holdings, L.L.C. since May of 2011. New York-based Crumbs Bake Shop, which is known for its gourmet cupcakes, has 65 locations in 12 states and the District of Columbia.

 Mr. Slezak previously worked for Aeropostale, Inc., a mall-based specialty retailer based in New York City. He served as vice-president from November 2004 to March 2005 and as group vice-president from March 2005 to April 2006. He then was senior vice-president at Aeropostale until joining Crumbs Bake Shop in August of 2013.

Mr. Kraegel previously was appointed as chairman of both the audit and compensation committees. Previously he was a partner at Peat, Marwick Mitchell & Co. (now KPMG, L.L.P., an audit, tax and advisory firm). He has a degree from Valparaiso University. Ms. Kase, from 1993 to 2007, served as lead corporate paralegal at the Nashville, Tenn., law firms of Sherrard & Roe, P.L.C., and Adams and Reese, L.L.P.
