DEERFIELD, ILL. — After 37 years with Mondelēz International, Al Koch, director of engineering, biscuit category, retired on April 1.

During his time at Mondelēz, Mr. Koch’s career included projects in Brazil, Saudi Arabia, China, Russia, and more. Such endeavors led him to enable teams to embrace cultural nuances for successful international projects. While working in developing regions, he focused on five Ps — people, products, property, the planet and profit — in that order. His passion for protecting such assets was what earned him Baking & Snack’s Operations Executive of the Year award in 2011.

Prior to Mondelēz, Mr. Koch held positions at Kraft Foods, Arnold Bakers and Thomas. He holds a bachelor of science degree in mechanical engineering and a master’s degree in business administration.
