WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. — Deborah Borg has been named chief human resources officer at Bunge Ltd., effective Jan. 1, 2016. She will succeed Vicente Teixeira, who is retiring.

Ms. Borg most recently was president of Dow USA and earlier held a variety of senior H.R. and leadership positions at Dow, which she joined in 2000. She started her career at the company as human resources manager for Australia/ New Zealand and held regional and business H.R. roles in Asia, Europe and North America. She also was global H.R. director, marketing and sales, and led the human capital and development function for Dow focusing on talent acquisition, retention and development. Prior to joining Dow, Ms. Borg held H.R. and talent development roles with General Motors Australia.

She received a bachelor’s of business management degree in human resources and a master’s degree in training and change management from Victoria University in Australia.

“Deborah’s deep experience leading human resources, talent development and business teams at global companies makes her an outstanding addition to our senior leadership team,” said Soren Schroder, chief executive officer. “Her leadership, expertise and perspective will be instrumental in supporting our objectives as we continue to build a best-in-class H.R. function at Bunge.”

Mr. Teixeira has led Bunge’s H.R. function since joining the company in 2008. Previously, he held senior leadership H.R. roles at several global companies.

“Under Vicente’s leadership, Bunge has built a more globally integrated H.R. function and has introduced best-in-class approaches in areas such as talent management, training and development and compensation that are vital to our global strategy,” Mr. Schroder said. “We thank him for his service and wish him the best in his retirement.”
