JACKSONVILLE, FLA. — Stellar has hired Michael Chapman as director of process safety management (PSM) compliance and technological solutions. In this role, he will lead the PSM team, which provides compliance solutions for clients, including audits, process hazard analyses, mechanical integrity inspections and corrective action support. He also will help to develop technology to enhance refrigeration operator training, help to increase awareness and understanding of ammonia hazards and develop best practices for systems operations and maintenance.

“This valuable in-house experience gives Mike perspective and relatability when working with our clients,” said Brian Kappele, executive vice-president, food and beverage facility services, Stellar. “He understands their needs and where they’re coming from, because he’s been in their shoes.”

Mr. Chapman formerly worked for Tyson Foods, Inc. for nearly 17 years, spending his last 10 as the company’s program manager for process safety and risk management programs. Prior to working for Tyson, he worked for North Carolina’s Division of Air Quality, where he led a chemical accident prevention program.

Mr. Chapman received a bachelor’s degree in environmental studies and a master’s degree in public administration from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington.
