WASHINGTON — June production of edible nonfat dry milk was 130,546,000 lbs, down 13% from May and down 23% from June 2012, the U.S. Department of Agriculture said in its latest Dairy Products report.
Manufacturers’ stocks of edible nonfat dry milk were 230,360,000 lbs, up slightly from 229,857,000 lbs in May and up 60% from June 2012. May shipments were 124,274,000 lbs, up 2% from May but down 47% from June 2012.

Output of skim milk powders was 58,217,000 lbs, up 6% from May and up 130% from June 2012.

Total dry whey production was 79,073,000 lbs, down slightly from 79,300,000 lbs in May and down 5% from June 2012.

Production of lactose was 90,169,000 lbs, down 2% from May but up 2% from June 2012. Whey protein concentrate production was 40,314,000 lbs, down 7% from May but up 5% from June 2012. Dry buttermilk outturn was 9,418,000 lbs, down 9% from May but up 24% from June 2012.

Total manufacturers’ stocks of dry whey on June 30 were 65,662,000 lbs, up slightly from 65,597,000 lbs in May and up 22% from June 2012. Total lactose stocks were 90,362,000 lbs, down slightly from 90,739,000 lbs in May but up 1% from June 2012. Whey protein concentrate stocks totaled 59,128,000 lbs, up 1% from May and up 5% from June 2012. Dry buttermilk stocks totaled 14,463,000 lbs, down 11% from May but up 6% from June 2012.

Butter production in June 2013 was 140,774,000 lbs, down 14% from May but up 3% from June 2012.

Total cheese production was 913,825,000 lbs, down 4% from May but up 1% from June 2012.

Production of regular hard ice cream in June was 80,135,000 gallons, up 3% from May but down 1% from June 2012. Low-fat ice cream production was 43,561,000 lbs, up 2% from May but down 5% from June 2012.
