WASHINGTON – The North American Millers’ Association announced Jan. 28 the resignation of Mary K. Waters as president of NAMA. The group said the employment relationship “is being ended amicably on mutually agreeable terms.”
Ms. Waters has been with NAMA since April 2010.
“NAMA thanks Ms. Waters for the positive contributions she made to NAMA and wishes her the best,” the group said in a brief statement.
The process to find a successor is expected to begin promptly, a milling industry source said.
The transition at the helm of NAMA is the second for the group in recent weeks.
Earlier in January, Greg Schlafer stepped down as chairman of NAMA after holding the position for a few months. Mr. Schlafer left his position at General Mills, Inc. and the milling business to head the Lamb Weston business of ConAgra Foods Inc.
James M. Meyer, president of Italgrani USA, has succeeded Mr. Schlafer as NAMA chairman.
An additional vacancy on the NAMA executive committee was created in recent days with the departure of Karl Gerrand as chief operating officer of the global processing operations of Viterra Inc. Mr. Gerrand is joining Bunge North America as managing director of Canada.
