WASHINGTON — A presentation by Sonny Ramaswamy, director of the National Institute of Food and Agriculture, part of the U.S. Department of Agriculture, will be featured at a July meeting of the Food Technical Regulatory Affairs Committee of the American Bakers Association. Dr. Ramaswamy will address FTRAC July 19 toward the end of the two-day program to be convened at the Washington offices of Covington & Burling. Dr. Ramaswamy was appointed to serve as NIFA director in 2012. In his role, he oversees NIFA funding for a wide range of agricultural research, education, and extension projects. In addition to Dr. Ramaswamy’s presentation, the FTRAC program will feature discussions of food allergy research, pending Food Safety Modernization Act activities and proposals, nutrition labeling issues and an update on agricultural biotechnology.
